After the devastating coronavirus pandemic, the world temporarily stopped. Every sporting event was put on hold. The sports world, however, resumed the leagues, although in a ‘bubble,’ after nearly four months of hiatus. The NBA league called each of the twenty-two NBA teams to Orlando Disney World to reinitiate the league. Teams in the league followed the newly revised league format. The players were forced to be in the bubble, far from their families, for a long time.
In an interview with a Washington Wizards legend, LeBron James’ ex-teammate spoke about his experience in the bubble. The NBA champion confessed that he suffered from “PTSD” as a result of the mental strain of his championship run despite emerging triumphant.

In a conversation with Gilbert Arenas, three-time NBA champion, Danny Green recalled his experience in the bubble. Green, along with the Los Angeles Lakers, won his third NBA ring in the Orlando bubble.
In the interview, he emphasized the emotional and physical strain he and the whole NBA had been through during the bubble. Green stressed that this was, without a doubt, the toughest triumph he’d ever had to endure.

“I always tell everybody it was the hardest one, yeah, it was the hardest one by far… just the mental and emotional strain of no matter how nice the place is even if you’re – this is a beautiful place – if you’re here for 100 days yeah and you can’t leave, it’s gonna it’s put a lot of strain on you emotionally and mentally.”
Green highlighted the tough schedule the team used to follow to cover up the games, “It wasn’t like we had a bunch of days in between because you got to make sure you have games like every other day.”
Green revealed his ‘PTSD’ the bubble gave him and stated he won’t enter if the NBA reinitiates it.
“I almost have PTSD or anything like that but bring up that bubble… I’m not the type of guy to give any money back, but if they try to bring up the idea of another bubble again, y’all can hide that one man.”
Even having state-of-the-art amenities, the bubble was not a desirable location due to its many restrictions.

Illusion vs. reality: NBA bubble life was beyond social media
Life in the NBA bubble was not as comfortable as it appeared from the social media posts of the NBA stars. They set up the bubble in Orlando’s Disney World, so there were no doubts that the facilities were world-class. The players had multiple activities apart from basketball they could have engaged in.
Players like Ben Simmons & Paul George indulged themselves in fishing while teammates Anthony Davis and LeBron James passed their time playing NBA 2K. Although it may seem exciting, being away from home for nearly 100 days negatively affected several players.
