Dwayne Johnson enjoyed a grand homecoming moment in WWE when he returned to the WWE after a four-year hiatus in September 2023. The WWE Universe was overjoyed to see one of their biggest superstars come back. However, they didn’t get to see him in in-ring action, which intensified their hunger instead of reducing it.

The WWE has been teasing the in-ring return of Dwayne Johnson for quite some time now. Many rumors and discussions say that Johnson will return at WrestleMania 40. But, the odds say that his comeback is more likely at the Elimination Chamber. Here are the three major reasons why The Rock will make landfall at the Australia event instead of 2024’s WrestleMania.

WWE brought Dwayne Johnson back for an episode on 15th September. Interestingly, the plans to host the Elimination Chamber in Australia were announced shortly after on 21st September. This prompted a heartfelt request from the officials of the Australian Tourist Board to the WWE to bring The Rock if possible.

According to WON’s David Meltzer, “The West Australian, a newspaper out of the Perth area, got some info from the Freedom of Information Act since the Elimination Chamber show on 2/24 is being promoted by the government’s tourism board.” speaking further, Meltzer mentioned two important details.

He said, “The board asked WWE if it was possible to get Dwayne Johnson for the show. They never said WWE agreed to it.” Although confirmations are still pending, there’s a significant chance that The Rock will come to Perth. Especially since it stands in line with a recent trend the WWE is following.

Dwayne Johnson could be the big superstar WWE needs for Australia

WWE has been paying a lot of attention to its international shows these days. Every overseas event conducted by WWE carries a big superstar who makes the show even greater for its spectators. For example, John Cena was brought to wrestle a match in India. He also surprised the crowd by showing up in London for the MITB event.

A similar thing was seen at WWE Backlash held in Puerto Rico when the host nation and one of the world’s greatest artists, Bad Bunny entertained the crowd. To continue with this tradition, no other person makes a better fit than Dwayne Johnson.

While the same thing can be said for WrestleMania, a significant factor says indicates Johnson won’t be in the main event of WM40 against Reigns.

The WrestleMania 39 showdown for the WWE Championship saw Cody Rhodes go against Roman Reigns as the main event. This match was loved a lot by the WWE Universe. In fact, they also voted the WM39 clash between Reigns and Rhodes as the match of the year.

Moreover, Triple H had already hinted once that the main event of WrestleMania will feature a clash between Rhodes and Reigns again. This rules out the possibility of Dwayne Johnson making his way to WrestleMania 40 and also bolsters his Elimination Chamber chances.
