After months of speculation and waiting, fans can finally look forward to the return of “The Notorious” Conor McGregor. In a huge announcement last week, UFC president Dana White confirmed McGregor would return to the UFC as a coach against Michael Chandler in the 31st season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter.’
Although it has not yet been confirmed, McGregor and Chandler are expected to meet each other in the octagon later this year after their session on TUF. Considering the PPV stardom that the Irishman commands, many expect his return to generate huge numbers in PPV sales. Recently, his future opponent Chandler gave his thoughts on the kind of numbers.
Michael Chandler appeared on ‘The MMA Hour’ to discuss his latest UFC assignment with Ariel Helwani. He also gave his thoughts on how a fight between himself and McGregor would sell. The former Bellator champion had some audacious, yet confident, claims to make.

Michael Chandler expects the Conor McGregor fight to be a huge PPV
Conor McGregor is a recurring name on the UFC’s top-selling PPV list. The Irishman has headlined eight pay-per-views that crossed the one million mark. Four of those crossed the 1.5 million mark and the infamous UFC 229 did a record 2.4 million in PPV buys.
As McGregor prepares for his return after a two-year layoff, Chandler expects their fight to enter the upper echelons of PPV royalty. In response to Helwani’s question regarding the same, “Iron” Mike said, “I think five million is a possibility. No, no. I mean traditionally, if you look at the numbers, I think two million is not just a possibility. I think it’s very, very achievable and very attainable…”

Michael Chandler’s faith in the fight selling well came from his belief in his own work. He told Helwani, “It’s hard for me to toot my own horn, but I think what I’ve created is this level of intrigue and mystique that when I show up on fight night and that cage door closes, all hell breaks loose.”
He continued, “My foot is on the gas and I haven’t seen a brake pedal at all since I signed with the organization. Honestly, since I started fighting. And it’s just continued to build and build and build.” He said the fight got made because “Conor knows it’s gonna do big numbers. You look at why this matchup, the UFC, knows it’s going to be a massive fight.”
