Ever since the confirmation for a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 bundle with the new PS5 Slim was made, fans were invested in what followed. Scheduled to release on November 10, the new bundle might bring a whole set of new innovations to the Sony console owners. The buzz has been quite strong. However, a viral X post that spotted one of the ‘conflicted’ guidelines that left the netizens confused and furious.

PS5 Slim Call of Duty: The MW3 bundle’s optional disc drive cannot be used without the internet

One of the fans spotted the instruction that read, “Internet connection required to pair disc drive and PS5 console upon setup.” Bringing the issue to the limelight, the user, through their X account, wrote, “How do you feel about the PS5 disc drive not being able to work without an internet first?” Responding to this, a veteran gaming editor wrote, “Uhhhh…if this is the case, that is highly concerning and very strange. Hardware connectivity shouldn’t be determined by a server that may not always be available.”

In the fine print, it is confirmed that gamers who purchase the new model with the extra drive would need to connect to the internet when pairing it to a machine for the first time. This information was noticed on the back of the box for the upcoming Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 PS5 slim bundle.

Some fans believe it to be a security precaution to make sure the disc drive is authentic and not from a third party. But it has prompted some questions about preservation. However, there being no official clarification on the guideline, the fans weren’t too pleased with the theories.
