Dr Disrespect’s widely hyped video game project, earlier titled ‘Project Moon’, received an official gameplay and title reveal today. While many were invited to the event, others with a Founder’s Pass could download an official copy of the gameplay demo. However, the feedback was quite mixed. Although the gameplay and initial design looked very impressive to many, it couldn’t satisfy a fraction of fans.

Dr Disrespect founded his new AAA studio, Midnight Society, back in December last year. He also announced that he is working on a multiplayer PvP experience with many notable talents. Seven months into the same, fans finally received a much-awaited gameplay demo and a logo/title reveal for the upcoming game. However, the game is reportedly still in early development.

Everything we know about Dr Disrespect’s upcoming game

According to today’s announcement, the game is officially titled ‘Deadrop’. Deadrop belongs to the Vertical Extraction Shooter genre, the first of its kind! By the genre’s name, a near-about example of a video game would probably be Escape from Tarkov, which also features the concept of extraction.

The gameplay revealed a set of weapons and some amazing scenes from the game. Many applauded the environment design and the overall backdrop!

Midnight Society also revealed an intriguing plot behind the game. Deadrop is situated 40 years into the Climate Wars, which points at it being a futuristic game. As mentioned in the description, the story occurs in the year 2020, when population and pollution are both at their peak. To keep the stratosphere free of pollutants, cities build massive structures called ‘Refiner States’.

However, in the process of freeing the air of pollutants, Refiner States also forms an export called Space Dust, which is highly profitable. The struggle for power and complete control of the Space Dust trade forms a never-ending friction among three factions: Skins, Syns, and Cleaners. Deadrop allows players to be a part of any of the factions and fight to gather the maximum resources and gear.

Will Dr Disrespect create the best shooter game?

With Midnight Society being an AAA studio, fans have a lot of expectations from Deadrop. Moreover, Dr Disrespect has showered fans with a lot of hope. The popular YouTube creator is always very confident of his ventures and this is, obviously, his most ambitious project until now. However, the reveal has reportedly disappointed a lot of fans.

On the other hand, many pointed out that the game is in early development. One shouldn’t expect it to feature a premium look, as of now. This is, of course, an extremely valid point.

There’s still a long way to go before Deadrop releases officially. Hence, the first Vertica Extraction shooter experience from Dr Disrespect is definitely going to be worth the wait!
