

Fans have mixed reactions to the worldwide phenomenal battle royale FPS, Fortnite, disabling one of its most powerful weapons. As the latest chapter of Fortnite was released only a few months ago, a new era of Fortnite began with new additions, characters, and most importantly, new weapons.

These new additions had quite a warm reception except for a certain weapon that divided the community. This weapon in discussion is none other than the infamous Shockwave Hammer. This so-called ‘melee’ weapon had such destructive capabilities that many had accused it of ‘ruining’ the game. On the other hand, numerous players enjoyed the fun new movement and action abilities that this weapon presented.

Shockwave Hammer gets ‘temporarily disabled’ in Fortnite
With the release of Chapter 4 in Fortnite, many new faces made their debut in the game. This includes Geralt of Rivia from Witcher, Marvel’s Hulk, Deku from My Hero Academia, and many more. Other than character skins new weapons like Red-Eye Assault Rifle, Thunder Shotgun, Twin Mag SMG, Maven Auto Shotgun, Tactical Pistol, and the Shockwave Hammer made their way into the game.

Among all these, the one that garnered the most attention was the Shockwave Hammer. The traversing capabilities that it presented and its unparalleled power made this hammer the weapon of choice for many players. But praises weren’t universal as many fans also thought that the hammer was “broken” and that Epic should remove it from the game.

The wishes came true on January 9, 2023, as Fortnite Status posted an official announcement on Twitter. It read, “Due to an issue, we have temporarily disabled the Shockwave Hammer in all playlists. Our intent is to re-enable the Shockwave Hammer in the next game update when this issue has been resolved.”

Before the Shockwave Hammer was banned, many streamers and players had been able to pull in some insane moments with this weapon. Streamer CouRage managed to do three consecutive bounces using the Shockwave Hammer, then ending the sequence with a heavy smash that in turn killed the last standing opponent on the map.
