It has been 15 years since Formula 1 witnessed the debut of Lewis Hamilton. In 2007, the British racing driver joined the grid by racing for the Mclaren F1 team. The rookie driver, with his raw pace, turned heads in the paddock from the get-go.

On 10th June 2007, Hamilton clinched his first victory in the pinnacle of motorsport. The ex-Mclaren driver started the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix on pole position, which he then converted into his maiden win. Looking back at the meaningful day, the seven-time world champion expressed his emotions on Twitter.

Lewis wrote, “15 years ago today I won my first ever race in F1. Thank you @team_lh for the artwork and thank you to all the fans both old and new. Whether you’ve been supporting me for 15 years or 15 minutes, I feel the energy just the same. Love you all, here’s to many more!”

Lewis Hamilton: the story so far

The Brit paired up with a two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso in his rookie season. The Spaniard is the living legend of Formula 1, who is a fierce driver to compete against in an on-track battle. Despite that, Lewis Hamilton showed his caliber by outperforming his teammate in the 2007 season.

In his first race at the 2007 Australian Grand Prix, Hamilton scored a podium finish, which was just the beginning for him. Since then, the driver has broken multiple records like most pole positions, most wins and he currently sits tied with the all-time great Michael Schumacher with 7 world titles.
