Ferrari F1 Team Principal Mattia Binotto Confirms Major Role Change Within the Team

Ferrari’s struggles are out in the open for all to see. They have suffered a series of poor performances and were plagued by the same at the Silverstone Circuit. The team has not won a single race until now.
Technical issues, management problems, and somewhere along the line both drivers have lost the spark they used to have. After the first three races, the constructors decided to re-shuffle the management team.
Team Principal, Mattia Binotto in a recent interview revealed that he is the Technical Director of the Scuderia no more. The 50-year-old engineer has to focus more on his job as a Team Principal.

Mattia Binotto was quoted saying, “I am no longer technical director …… It’s plenty busy with all the tasks and no time to do anything anyhow. “
The team currently stands at 4th on the Constructors’ Championship standings with an 8 point gap with the third-placed McLaren and a 35 point gap with the Redbull in 2nd place.

Expectations from the prancing horses were sky-high following the launch of the SF1000. However, the expectations of giving teams in the top tier a fair fight have died down over the course of the 2020 season.

The team is struggling hard to keep the pace and climb up the points table. Their Monegasque and German driver, Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel respectively, have said that they are struggling a lot with their new car.
Charles Leclerc currently stands at 5th in the Drivers’ Championship standings. Whereas Sebastian Vettel is struggling at 13th.

The decision of reshuffling the management came before the British Grand Prix. The Scuderia Ferrari Chairman, John Elkann, clearly stated that the team is unlikely to return to its winning ways before 2022.
Even after such a statement by the Chairman, John Elkann, the Italian engineer is still confident about winning races this season as well.
The FIA has confirmed that there will be a total of three races in Italy this season. One of which is in Mugello, Ferrari’s training and testing track. That race will be the 1000th race for the Scuderia in Formula One.

Therefore, hopes will be high for the scarlet legends to deliver a victory, as it is something that the Tifosi deserve.
