Ever since the advent of Formula 1, way back in 1950, the drivers have been bona fide superstars. Their dalliance with death, at break-neck speeds, all for the thrill of racing and the addiction to competition, has given them a mythical status in the eyes of the fans. That being said, you’d never even imagine an A-lister being star-struck by an F1 driver, right? For all intents and purposes, Hollywood actors have their own halo of stardom around them. But F1 drivers are just a different kind of breed! A point in case is Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.

F1 races in the United States are always a grand affair. The commercial viability of the sport has been skyrocketing in the US. And naturally, all the celebrities like a piece of that screen-time pie. Thus, the sport has not been a stranger to celebrity appearances whilst in the States. And at last year’s US Grand Prix held in Austin, none other than Hollywood star Brad Pitt was amongst the crowd.

Pitt was frequenting the races as part of his research for an upcoming film about the sport. Even though he’d be the star in that movie, he was nothing but a fan at the real races, as was evidenced by his encounter with Ferrari man Carlos Sainz.

On his DONTBLINK video series on YouTube, Sainz put up a montage, of his 2022 US GP weekend. In the video, Sainz was on his way towards the paddock when he crossed paths with Pitt. The Spaniard proceeded to greet Pitt, as the American actor just stood there for a split second, starstruck! Snapping back to reality, just in time, Pitt exclaimed, “Hey! Oh sh*t!”.

He then went on to shake Sainz’s hand as he could only muster a, “It’s really nice to meet you.”
