The pretty hyped-up Miami GP Qualifying session was running pretty mild until the beginning of Q3. But as soon as the top 10 shootouts began, the tension was palpable. This was the chance for any of the 10 drivers to pull out a stonking lap in a pretty closely stacked grid. To add another dynamic to the mix, Sergio Perez was informed on his out lap that the wind was picking up. Then came Max Verstappen, who lost his RB19 in Sector 1. And a chaotic Q3 ended with Charles Leclerc and his Ferrari in the wall. But then why were Lewis Hamilton fans cheering?

The 7x champion shockingly bowed out of Qualifying as the Q2 came to an end as Hamilton slid through the middle sector and couldn’t improve on his final flying lap. This, however, prompted the Tifosi to gloat at the misfortunes of the Brit and the Silver Arrows. Little did they know, they were in for heartbreak just a few minutes down the line.
