Experience is the teacher of all things. Lewis Hamilton knows that better than most of the drivers on the grid. The Singapore GP was one such race where Lewis’s experience could have come to his rescue. However, things didn’t go well for the Mercedes driver this time, as he finished a disappointing P9.

Sergio Perez won the Singapore GP, while Charles Leclerc came home in 2nd to deny Max Verstappen from celebrating his 2nd championship just yet. Meanwhile, the Mercedes pair of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell had a night to forget at the Marina Bay circuit.

Hamilton had a great qualifying session but could not capitalize on his P3 start on Sunday. He quickly lost his place in the first lap to Carlos Sainz before further mistakes eventually meant he crossed the checkered flag in P9. Lewis even complained on the team radio, criticizing the tire strategy used by Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton said, “I told you about these tires, in the future you need to listen to me–no grip.”

He later clarified his radio message by saying, “I wanted to start with scrubbed [intermediates] and then I wanted to go to soft, I did the laps to the grid on the scrubbed inters and it was better. Then we put the [new] inters on and they were terrible–it took several laps for the temperatures to come up.”

With a disappointing 2022 campaign, Lewis and Mercedes will be hoping for the end of the season desperately. They have been way behind Red Bull and Ferrari this season and will be looking to bridge the gap between them and their rivals.

Lewis Hamilton to renew his Mercedes deal, which could run up to 2027

Mercedes boss and business tycoon, Toto Wolff has revealed major news regarding the future of Lewis Hamilton. Toto claimed that Hamilton will sign a new deal, which could keep him with the Silver Arrows until 2027. Hamilton’s current contract expires at the end of next year.

Toto Wolff said, “So I have no doubt that whenever we agree on a contract extension – which is going to happen – that we will both discuss very openly ‘What does the future hold’? The advantage is we speak a lot together.”
