Lewis Hamilton Hungry For More With Clear Blueprint for Improving Mercedes F1

From an extremely poor start to consistent podium finishes, Lewis Hamilton has seen it all. This rollercoaster ride astonishingly only tells the tale of the last thirteen races. However, the Briton became a seven-time world champion with his constant hunger for more.

To feed Hamilton’s hunger, Mercedes will have to bring upgrades to get their first win of 2022. A win that will extend Hamilton’s record of a race win in every F1 season he’s competed in. More than the record, a win for the Mercedes paddock will be a huge morale booster.

Hamilton talks about pushing the team and increasing the performance of the car. In an interview with Heikki Kovalainen, his former McLaren teammate, Hamilton discussed the need for further development.

“We’re still lacking performance, which is a difficult thing because I think there’s potential in this car. But we had to de-power it to stop it from bouncing,” said Hamilton.

He added, “We’ve had really good reliability but we can’t forever rely on reliability being the thing that keeps us on the podium.”

The porpoising might not be that prominent on the track, but it is definitely holding the team back. Mercedes are also well aware of their pace compared to the leading pack of Red Bull and Ferrari. The Brackley base also knows that the unreliability of Ferrari is a contributing factor in their consistent podium finishes.

As Mercedes is on an upward trajectory, a win might not be a distant dream, especially with Hamilton’s help.

Kovalainen also questioned Hamilton about his contribution now compared to when he first joined Mercedes. A humble Hamilton candidly spoke about his relationship with the team.

He said, “I would say when I first joined the team whilst at that point it was the most mature I was and experience that I had, I would say now with all the experience that I have I think I’m in a much more grounded place, a much stronger place in terms of my relationship with everyone I’ve been here for 10 years.”

“So in terms of pulling together, it’s no one man that leads the team. We do it all collectively,” he concluded.
