Austrian GP was not the best experience for several F1 and Lewis Hamilton fans. While the race itself proved to be quite entertaining, the crowd’s reactions and conduct were not up to the mark. There have been several reports of misconduct and misbehavior. Several fans visited the Red Bull ring and left with an unpleasant experience.
In fact, very recently, F1 released a statement regarding “unacceptable” behavior carried out by some in the arena. Moreover, Austrian GP promoters will be answerable to the F1 authorities regarding these harassments. There have been countless encounters now, and the news has spread like wildfire.
Several drivers and entities have also stood up against this. Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and Red Bull’s very own Christian Horner and Max Verstappen condemned the acts. Hamilton expressed his shock and reacted, “It’s crazy to think that we’re experiencing those things still in 2022, “He further added, “And it comes down to education, and of course, ignorance.”

Title contender Leclerc also voiced his concerns, “I believe that as a community, people that are witnessing any type of harassment, should act and actually, yeah, do something.” His championship rival Verstappen also deemed the horrific acts as “not OK” and requested, “A normal human being shouldn’t think like that or behave like it.”

Horner also stood completely against the acts. He claimed, “We are shocked to hear that there have been some incidents of abusive behaviour in the grandstands and the fans parks...This is completely unacceptable…” Clearly, these incidents are shocking and shameful for the community as one.

Team boss Toto Wolff even complained, “We found out that this has happened and that’s just not on. That needs to stop. If you are a Formula 1 fan, whatever team, whatever driver, you can’t be a racist, [sexist] and you can’t be homophobic because then you don’t fit Formula 1 and we don’t want you.”
