Recently, Lewis Hamilton signed a bizarre one-year contract with Mercedes and is due to expire by the end of 2021. This ignited speculations that the Briton might bow out of the sport following the end of the 2021 season. Some believe that if he does Max Verstappen will try and fill the void at the German outfit.
Well, the flying Dutchman opened up that he is clueless about Lewis’s plans beyond 2021. Hence, until Lewis confirms his retirement, Max opined that he is keeping his entire focus on the upcoming outing with Red Bull.

According to Crash, Max spoke about his possibilities of moving to the rival F1 team, Mercedes. “At the end of the day, I don’t know what Lewis is going to do,” he said.
“I’m just focused on myself and focused on this year and trying to make that a success. So early in the season with basically just a shakedown, I am not thinking about those sort of things at this stage.”

Max is setting himself up for his sixth season with Red Bull, and his chances of securing a title are looking bright this time around. Considering the massive expectations from the farewell Honda engine, Red Bull could hand Max a powerful beast.

“We are living in the moment, trying to have a good season first of all this year. And the smart people in the background will handle those kind of things with the engine.”
