As for the new McLaren machine, it will be known as the MCL35M. McLaren didn’t decide to go with a drastically different name from last season because of the freezing of car development.

As a result, the overall chassis would be the same, albeit with a few minor tweaks in order to comply with the new aerodynamic rules. These rules were brought in place to reduce the pressure on the tires.

The MCL35M’s predecessor had quite the success in F1 last year. Under the command of Norris and Carlos Sainz, the car achieved two podium finishes and helped the team finish as the unofficial ‘best of the rest,’ bagging 202 points.

Fans would hope to see the new machine deliver the same, if not better, results in 2021. And equipped with a Mercedes engine and two class drivers, there’s no reason to believe why they can’t.
