Now, the 7-time world champion has doubled down on his criticism of Christian Horner as he digs out evidence of things being the other way around. Lewis Hamilton has claimed that the Red Bull Team Principal is doing such things because he is ‘not getting enough attention’ and perhaps he is feeling ‘lonely.’

Speaking to Sky Sports at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Thursday, the Mercedes driver expressed his confusion, stating, “I did not know what Horner was talking about.” The denial laid the foundation for more things to come as Lewis Hamilton debunks Horner’s claims.

“I have checked with everyone in my team and nobody has spoken to them. However, he (Horner) did reach out to me earlier on in the year about meeting up. I picked up my old phone which I found at home. It has my old number. I switched it on, and hundreds of messages came through, and one was from Christian to get together and have a catch-up at the end of the season,” Lewis was quoted by independent.co.uk.

Hamilton exposed Horner’s attempt to approach him for a meeting at the end of the season. The Briton, with a hint of sarcasm, remarked, “If you really think about it, there are a lot of people here that like to drop my name in conversations because they know it will make waves.”

“If you are a little bit lonely and are not getting much attention, that is the perfect thing to do, just to mention my name. He is stirring things.”

Lewis Hamilton had already extended his contract with the Brackley-based outfit till the end of 2025. So, is Mercedes going to give him a car to fight for his 8th world championship? Nico Rosberg thinks it is highly likely.

Nico Rosberg gives his vote of confidence to Mercedes to give Lewis Hamilton a championship-caliber car

Nico Rosberg offers a perspective on the championship battles to come in the future. Despite Mercedes facing challenges in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Rosberg remains optimistic about the team’s potential for the 2024 season.

The 2016 champion thinks that Mercedes will give Lewis Hamilton a car to contend for the championship against the Dutch Lion in 2024. Despite Red Bull’s dominance in 2023, Rosberg sees the potential for Silver Arrows to bounce back, unlike what he commented about his arch-rival’s chances of winning another title. He acknowledges the team’s struggle for consistency. But he also highlights their glimpses of brilliance, particularly in races like Austin, where they challenged for the win.

“We’ve seen flashes of brilliance from the Mercedes team just recently. They lack consistency. But look at Austin. They were challenging for the win there and actually had the fastest car over the weekend,” Rosberg told the Daily Mail. The German, drawing from his experience with Mercedes, emphasizes the team’s capacity to understand and improve the car.

“So we’ve seen that they’re starting to understand the car, and they just have the problem that you still lack consistency. They still lack in straight-line performance. But they are starting to understand all that. I believe in Mercedes’ ability because I was there. I know how strong they are. It’s always still the same people. So certainly there is a chance that Hamilton could once again fight for the championship next year,” Rosberg explained.

I come from a family that lives and breathes football, but I never quite fit that mold. Ever since I was a kid, something about motorsport drew me in and helped me develop a lifelong love for racing. The sight of stock cars zipping past close to 200 miles an hour bumper to bumper just makes you appreciate the sport in a different way.
