Michael Schumacher’s Wife Accepted his Special Award by FIA President at the Annual Ceremony

The FIA recognized several individuals involved with Formula 1 for their contribution over the years. Michael Schumacher was among the individuals who were honored at the 2020 annual awards ceremony of the FIA.
The FIA President, Jean Todt, honored Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton with the ‘FIA President Special Award’. However, the former World Champion could not make it to the ceremony.
However, Schumacher’s wife, Corinna Schumacher, was present on behalf of Michael to accept the award. According to a report,

“The strong woman of the Schumacher family appears very rarely in public. But in Geneva she made an exception to accept the President’s special award on behalf of her husband. Todt is a close family friend.”
Corinna pointed out, “He loved racing so much. Michael always had a big heart for people who need something.” Todt also had something to say about Schumacher, “Michael was always ready to support anything that helps society,” he recalled.
The skiing incident involving Michael Schumacher
The Ferrari driver, Michael Schumacher, won 7 World Championships in his career. He is one of the most successful drivers in Formula 1. He retired for the second and the last time in 2012.

Unfortunately, Michael’s time off from Formula 1 did not go too well. The Formula 1 legend was involved in a dangerous accident while skiing in the French Alps. He hit his head on a rock and suffered severe injuries even though he was wearing appropriate protective gear.

The accident placed Schumacher in a coma. He later regained consciousness in June 2014. Meanwhile, he is believed to be treated at his home in Geneva with on-site medical care.

Michael’s son, Mick Schumacher, is slated to join Haas F1 come 2021 after having won the Formula 2 championship. There will be a lot of eyes on the young Schumacher, and it’ll be interesting to see how he performs.
