The F1 silly season is a ruthless merchant that holds no prisoners. We have seen that time and again as drivers, even with valid contracts, are paraded in the silly business. We have seen many lose their seats, and we have seen some surprise inclusions as well. Red Bull has been home to constant change since 2019. However, just like his performances on the track, Max Verstappen is untouchable at Red Bull.

The Dutchman signed perhaps the longest and most lucrative contract in the sport’s history back in 2021, tying him to Red Bull until 2028. Verstappen is more than happy to continue this incredible run of form he’s on with Red Bull. However, what happens after the 2028 season when he’s 31 years old, and perhaps Red Bull isn’t as strong or competitive? Well, the Dutchman has an update for you!

Ferrari is one of the biggest and oldest brands in F1 and, as Sebastian Vettel said, “Everyone is a Ferrari fan. Even if they say they’re not, they are Ferrari fans.” As it turns out, this also includes the mighty Max Verstappen. Verstappen recently talked about life in F1 beyond 2028. The Red Bull man often talks about an early retirement. However, on this occasion, like he did in the past, he talked about his desire to race in red overalls for Ferrari.

He said, “It has an incredible history in this sport and is a great opponent to compete against. Future at Ferrari? When my current contract expires I will be 31 and I think I can still do well.

Well, there you have it. Even Max Verstappen has a dormant desire to race for Ferrari. To be honest, who doesn’t? However, in the current scenario, Ferrari needs a different Red Bull mastermind instead of Verstappen.

The same department, Adrian Newey, heads at Red Bull and we are all aware of his genius. This is exactly why Peter Windsor criticized Ferrari for not signing Newey when they had a chance, keeping in mind the state of their 2022 challenger.

On his YouTube channel, Windsor said, “Ferrari should have paid Adrian 1 billion Euros ($1.070 billion) 4 years ago and now they’d be winning Grands Prix and championships and everyone be happy.” Not just this, Windsor also shut the door on a potential poaching attempt by Ferrari. He said, “Adrian’s a bit older now and I can’t image he’d ever want to go to Ferrari and all the hassle that involves, regardless of the money. So, that opportunity is gone.”
