Sebastian Vettel Helps Max Verstappen Finally Put Ugly Rivalry With Lewis Hamilton to Bed

While the rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen was brewing over the years, in 2021, it came out in its full form. The title run went right down to the wire, concluding in the very last lap of the final race of the season. That too happened in the most controversial fashion. The following year, the 2022 season, Verstappen and Hamilton were leagues apart, with the Dutchman practically running away with the championship. Despite that, many speculated that things weren’t all good between the duo. Turns out, there is no animosity and Sebastian Vettel had a role to play in calming the waters between them.
Hamilton recently appeared for an interview with Formula One Magazine. There, he talked about the respect he had for the Dutchman. However, he was unsure whether his counterpart held him in the same regard. Max put his doubts to rest in his latest interview, where he talked about how everyone enjoyed themselves together at Vettel’s retirement dinner ahead of the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Talksport quoted Verstappen as saying, “I have no issues with anyone.”
“We had that dinner in Abu Dhabi, we had a laugh with everyone, we all had a good time so that’s OK.”
Max also talked about his much-awaited presence on Netflix’s popular docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive. Since the last three seasons, the Dutchman was missing from the interviews on the show. However, that is about to change in the upcoming 5th season.
Max Verstappen tells why he avoided Netflix for 3 years
The Netflix docuseries have done wonders for the sport’s popularity worldwide. While F1 was already making new fans each year, the streaming platform gave it a boost that more sports (Golf and Tennis) are adopting now. However, DTS has also gained quite the notoriety for being sensational, and allegedly, curating drama where there isn’t one. That is something that did not go well with the reigning champion and had him stay away from being involved.

“We had to talk about it first and they understood my side of it, and of course I understand that in general when you create a show or whatever that there needs to be drama, it needs to be exciting.”
