Sebastian Vettel Reveals Why He Considers Michael Schumacher the ‘GOAT’ over Lewis Hamilton

Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher share a few things in common. For starters, both are F1 World Champions from Germany. Also, the two of them drove for Ferrari during its toughest time and with an ambition to restore it to its old glory.
While Schumacher succeeded in his quest, Vettel could not follow in his hero’s footsteps with the Italian outfit. Though, it was Michael’s charm with the red team that made Vettel swoon over him.
So, to this day, he considers him the best driver to get behind the cockpit of an F1 car, even though his rival Lewis Hamilton is breaking all of his records. Elaborating why, Vettel said –

“Because he was able to drive the red car faster than everyone else and to get the most out of every race. He was still able to get an extra performance like I haven’t seen anyone else do. And that for many years.
“In sporty terms, this stands for extreme reliability. He also confirmed that as a person. He always confessed to what he said.”

Sebastian Vettel wants to pay back Michael Schumacher by mentoring his son, Mick

When Vettel made his debut in F1 with Toro Rosso in 2007, Schumacher had already hung up his boots. However, he came back for one final hurray with Mercedes in 2010. Hence, to Vettel’s delight, he shared the grid with his idol.
He was close to Michael and relied on him for crucial advice. Now that his son, Mick Schumacher, will make his debut next season in F1, he wants to be what Michael was to him.

Mick is not the only one who will have a fresh challenge in 2021. Vettel will take to the wheels of Aston Martin next season; an opportunity for him to banish the demons of his Ferrari tenure. He will want to prove that there is still life left in the old dog.
