Lewis Hamilton‘s father Anthony Hamilton put the Stevenage boy on the F1 grid, enduring every obstacle possible. And even that Kingmaker had asked the then McLaren driver Hamilton to not go to Mercedes. But the move happened, and the rest is history. However, seeing Hamilton’s struggles with Mercedes, who have just not been able to crawl out of the slump, Ferrari is being asked to pull a Mercedes.

In 2012, it was announced that Lewis will replace Michael Schumacher and drive for the German team. Mercedes had not done anything significant till that except bagging a few accolades here and there. But geniuses like Niki Lauda and Ross Brawn made an offer good enough that Hamilton couldn’t refuse. The gamble paid off, and now 10 years later, F1 Pundit Johnny Herbert is asking Ferrari to sell themselves the same way.

As quoted by Motorsports, Herbert said, “Ferrari has to sell itself the same way. Lewis has yet to extend his contract, which allows him to look elsewhere. Why not? Ferrari has to be an option. He can’t go to Red Bull or Aston Martin. I know Ferrari is not getting what they want right now, but they certainly have potential.”

Johnny Herbert doesn’t see why the Briton won’t still have the motivation to make a go for his eighth title. He does believe that Lewis’ teammate George Russell “is doing an excellent job” but the man who has faced a setback is no less.

He said, “He’s not comfortable in the car right now, but that could happen. Every driver sometimes feels and complains that he’s not very comfortable in the car for certain reasons. It’s not fair to criticize Lewis for that. He’s still motivated to win his eighth title.”
