The annual Monaco Grand Prix is right around the corner for Formula One. The sport will head to the streets of Monte Carlo to host its Crown Jewel once again this season. But one driver is arguably looking forward to the race a bit more, and that is Red Bull driver Sergio Perez.

The Mexican driver cannot hold his excitement to race in the iconic streets of the principality this weekend. The main reason for Checo’s excitement is to continue his form from his Spanish GP weekend. He finished in P2 behind his teammate and world champion Max Verstappen in Barcelona last weekend.

Checo mentioned he likes the track layout at Monaco, which often produces boring races on Sunday. “I like the track there. It’s just great. You can’t afford to make mistakes in Monaco, because if you do, it’s normally very expensive.”

“We have incredible momentum as a team now, and we just keep pushing. I’m curious how the car will perform on the Monaco circuit,” said the Red Bull driver.

Perez is right in mentioning that a good qualifying result gets the 99% of the job done for the race. But you can also make progress in the main race on Sunday as he showed last year. He started the race in P9 but with an amazing pace and strategy finished in P4.

Sergio will have an added motivation this season heading into Monaco as he looks to shrug off the disappointment of Barcelona where he was denied victory by his team. But he will face turn competition from his teammate and rivals Ferrari and Mercedes in the qualifying on Saturday.
