Imagine calling drivers Lewis Hamilton ‘Luis’ and Pierre Gasly ‘pedro gaseoso’! A local newspaper from Spain recently did that. The world reported about the thrilling Azerbaijan Grand Prix, sometimes adding their own twists and turns to the names. Notably, these driver names sometimes have their own versions of being pronounced in a specific part of the world.

However, this specific newspaper gave fans a lot of things to laugh about all at once. While they wrote some names fine, ‘Jorge Russel’ and later G.Russel, caught many eyes. ‘Carlos Leclerc’ was definitely another surprise that may have left F1 fans in splits. ‘Luis Hamilton’ may still be understandable. However, one name, in particular, caused many to react.

AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly, who came P5 at Baku, popped up as ‘pedro gaseoso’.

While some could be Spanish versions of the usual names, ‘pedro gaseoso’ seemed rather confusing.

Previously, in a very famous Lando Norris-Carlos Sainz video, fans saw something new. The then teammates called the singer ‘Mariah Carey’ in different ways. Norris, in fact, found Sainz’s version rather funny, which explains how Spanish words can sometimes sound very fun.

An impressive Pierre Gasly fought gamely Lewis Hamilton at Azerbaijan

The captivating race in Baku saw Pierre Gasly cross the line in P5. Many thought the Frenchman could lock in a P4 but ultimately lost out to Lewis Hamilton‘s W13. Surprisingly, this was not the only Hamilton-Gasly interaction we saw this year. Earlier at Imola as well, the two were involved in a fierce battle, which saw Gasly holding back Hamilton.

Though the driver finished with no points, many lauded his performance against the seven-time world champion. Moreover, the Imola track is not an easy overtake, but Gasly managed it rather well. Despite the French driver not having the best races in the 2022 season, he has surely impressed many.
