It is that time of the year when accolades pour in for the drivers who have worked hard all year. The FIA Awards are here and the veteran at Alfa Romeo has bagged one for himself. Kimi Raikkonen received the award for the Action of the Year this season for his fantastic Portuguese Grand Prix.

The oldest member of the circuit was rumored to be in his last season of F1. However, it did not suit his wits to go out on a low.

Kimi Raikkonen hails from the time when Michael Schumacher hailed Ferrari to glory. The mettle of that breed instills within them a spirit not fettered by age. Thus we will see our ‘Iceman’ for another season in the Alfa Romeo cockpit.

Driving beside Giovanazzi, a racer half his age, Kimi still outperforms him. In fact, George Russell in a Williams cockpit is no match for Raikkonen in his Alfa Romeo cockpit. The veteran could still take all the young lads to school, with the sight of a slight error.

Well, armed with his record of the most race starts this year, Kimi gears up for his prize.

The Portuguese circuit of Portimao was a slippery ride for the leaders, with Hamilton dropping backtrack positions, and the drivers complaining of no grip on the initial laps of the race.

However, Raikkonen showed them how it’s done with his flying first lap, climbing from P16 to P6, and thus winning the award.
