There are quite a lot of bizarre moments that have happened in Formula One over the years, but the one moment that caught a lot of fans’ attention was Daniel Ricciardo’s hilarious Instagram story, back in the 2019 F1 season.

Ahead of the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim, the Honey Badger posted a video on social media starring himself and ten other drivers and hilariously demanded that the FIA cancel the race. Of course, many may already be aware of this particular moment, but let us offer an overview of it.

Ahead of the race at the Hockenheim Ring, a story popped up on Ricciardo’s Instagram feed which turned out to be a video lasting hardly for a few seconds.

The brief clip begins with Ricciardo looking to be stranded inside a lift, recording himself with a hilarious grin on his face. It initially seemed like he was alone with the then-Williams Racing driver, George Russell.

But only as he raises his camera to a certain height, we realize the duo wasn’t alone, as current F1 drivers, including Valtteri Bottas, Pierre Gasly, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, and Sergio Perez too were on the same lift.

Even Daniil Kvyat, Romain Grosjean, and Nico Hulkenberg, the drivers who recently lost their F1 seats, were part of the amusing charade orchestrated by Ricciardo.

Elevator got stuck. Still here… race is canceled,” Ricciardo further wrote on the video.

Was the elevator really stuck?

The answer is no! Ricciardo made it look like it was stuck. However, the Australian failed to notice something that contradicted the fact that the elevator was not working. At the very beginning of the video, one could notice the lift door closing behind Ricciardo, meaning the drivers had just entered the lift.

Hence, as always, it was a mere joke from Ricciardo and nothing more.
