Max Verstappen recently showed support for a red team, although he himself is in a cutthroat championship battle with the red team of the F1 paddock. The Red Bull protégé praised his fellow Dutchman, Erik Ten Hag, who finds himself as the face of the red devils, Manchester United.

Even though Verstappen was born in Belgium, he races under a Dutch flag. And apart from motor racing, the F1 superstar takes a keen interest in the beautiful game and stays up to date with the world of soccer.

PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona are the two clubs that rank on the top of the list for Verstappen, and he is an avid supporter. Despite that, the long-time PSV fans sent out a message for his fellow Dutchman as he takes a new role in his soccer career.

“It’s nice to see other Dutchmen be high up, in the biggest clubs in the world — it’s not always easy to have that role but he’s a Dutchman, he can handle the pressure,” Verstappen commented.

The Honest Truth Behind Max Verstappen’s Savage Pre-Race FIFA Ritual

Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in England, with a rich legacy behind them. However, in recent times, the team has fallen off the pedestal with a poor string of results. Consequently, they have appointed Ten Hag to put an end to their nightmares.

Max Verstappen faces a bitter-sweet scoreline

Safe to say, it has become habitual for the Red Bull ace to take home the winner’s trophy, week in and week out. He is in stellar form and is leading the world championships by 93 points to his own teammate, Sergio Perez in P2.

Nevertheless, it is not a similar fairytale for the club he passionately supports. In the recent UEFA championship league playoff match, PSV lost out to Rangers F.C. which demoted them to the Europa League and ended their ambitions to compete on the biggest European stage.

Henceforth, Verstappen shared his feeling about his team saying, “It was bit of a painful night seeing PSV eliminated, but Giovanni (van Bronckhorst) is in charge of Rangers. It was painful, but you hope they do well.”

Despite getting beaten by a rival, Verstappen praised the head coach of Rangers F.C. Furthermore, the F1 superstar mentioned another Dutch top-flight soccer player, Virgil Van Dijk, and had a message for him as the Liverpool defender kicked off the Premier League season in a rough fashion.

“Hopefully with that win over Liverpool – I’m also a bit of a Liverpool fan because Virgil [Van Dijk] being there – I hope they can go back to where they belong, which is of course, at the top,” Verstappen concluded.

In the sport’s history books, the only dutch driver to win an F1 Grand Prix is Max Verstappen, and currently, he is the reason the Dutch national anthem plays on the podium almost every weekend.
