If there was ever any lingering doubt, Viktor Hovland has put everything to rest. After committing to the Sentry, Hovland has finally revealed the first half of his 2024 schedule. The World No.4 will take part in all the signature events till March along with a regular event. 

It was widely speculated that the Ryder Cup hero could make a career switch. After Jon Rahm defected to LIV Golf, Hovland was the next big name on the list to join the breakaway league. In fact, it was reported he could be part of the Spaniard’s newly floated team. However, the new development effectively sealed his future with the PGA Tour for the next year.

Viktor Hovland quells the LIV rumor

The 2023 Tour Championship winner will first make his appearance at the Sentry. The Norwegian will join his Scandinavian Ryder Cup partner Ludvig Aberg, and World No.1 Scottie Scheffler on the field on January 4. Hideki Matsuyama and Rickie Fowler are also set to join the first Signature event on the 2024 PGA Tour calendar.

After the Sentry, you can spot Viktor Hovland at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am from February 1-4. Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, and Jordan Spieth are also set to take part in the second signature event in the Tour’s calendar.

After the Genesis Invitational, the Ryder Cup winner will tee off at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 7. In his last outing at the signature event, Hovland finished at number 10 on the leaderboard. As of now, the last stop in his next year’s schedule is at The Players Championship, where he came up third last time. 

Viktor Hovland confirming his presence at the four signature events next year will bring a huge relief to Jay Monahan. The World No.4’s career switch would’ve been another huge blow for the Tour, as the Norwegian is also in contention to win the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year Award. The European Ryder Cupper’s defection would have definitely called for a rule change as Rory McIlroy said in the wake of Jon Rahm’s $600M career move.
