Yankee legends Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez share a long, and successful past. The eventual MLB superstars first met at a college baseball game between the University of Miami (A-Rod) and the University of Michigan (Jeter). Since then, the pair has been victim to a highly topsy-turvy relationship, that eventually transformed into a power battle when they became teammates in 2004.

The two recently reunited on the Fox Broadcast of the World Series. At the same time, Drink Champs recently uploaded a video on YT, where the former Yankee captain talked about his relationship with Alex Rodriguez. He also moved to take a subtle dig at him but mentioned that it’s all in the past.

Notably, the two shortstops signed record-breaking deals with the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees, respectively. While the occasion should’ve been celebrated, A-Rod took an avoidable dig at Jeter, and said that no one could break his record, not “even a guy like Derek.”

While talking about that, Jeter expressed his feelings about A-Rod, in the present day. He said, “This was 20 years ago. That’s why in the documentary, I wanted people to know how I felt at the time. Now, a lot of things in life have happened since. It’s over, it’s beyond. I don’t feel that way anymore.”

In continuation to that, Jeter took a subtle dig at A-Rod and said that he wouldn’t do that to a friend. He said, “But at the time, how I felt was – I’m extremely loyal. I wouldn’t do it to a friend.”

The five-time World Champion moved to talk about how he’s moved on from the past. And said, “Maybe it’s a character flaw for me, but I just turn it off like that. And I won’t ever think about it again. It’s just you move on.”

Jeter also talked about his newly developed bluntness after he lost people that were close to him. And he elaborated on how he expresses discontent toward people. He said, “I don’t want to feel a certain way when I see someone man. So, if I have something to say, I’ll say it. And we move”

The 20-year-Yankee expresses his views on loyalty

Derek Jeter made his MLB debut in 1995. Until the very end of his career, the shortstop played for the New York Yankees. And such was a display of his loyalty. While talking about that in the same interview, Jeter said, “I think you only have so many real true friends. And I value relationships, I value my friends, I am extremely loyal and I will continue to be that way.”
