After she played at Wimbledon and gained popularity as the youngest to enter the tournament, fame has been in swift pursuit of the tennis prodigy. However, not everything that has happened since has been pleasant.
Coco Gauff had to change her schedule
Coco expressed concerns in this interview about how all the publicity has negatively impacted her life. She recalled an incident when her family car was being followed around by somebody.
Matters got so serious that the Gauff family sought the help of the police.
Coco went on to say, “We’ve just kind of been making sure we change our schedule every day so no one, like, I don’t know, figures out what we do. My dad’s crazy, so I think we’ll be OK.”

Even amidst such a serious conversation, Coco knows how to play it light with a laugh. The teenager was always this mature and poised as is evident from this 2019 interview.
The “Cocomania” that had taken over the tennis scene after 2019’s Wimbledon made her a popular face in international tennis. “Now I have people, like, stopping me on the street…I guess it’s a plus,” the player had joked.
Gauff’s golden personality
Coco rose to fame in 2019 with her debut in the WTA Miami Open. Since then, she has never looked back. In this interview with Teen Vogue later that year, she was very candid about her achievements. For a teenager who was making quick headlines, Coco seemed much more mature and promising in the long run. While everyone was talking about how she took a science test before making history at the Wimbledon qualifiers, Gauff was always humble in her statements.
Coco’s popularity peaked in the following years and now she ranks at no.7 in the world with 89 matches in her favor. Even after she beat her idol, Venus Williams, the young smasher remained unfazed about her achievements. Mouratoglou has witnessed Gauff’s preparation since she was 10 and according to him “At 14 she was more mature than women on tour who are 25. That’s incredible.”

Coco has not only won matches but also hearts with both her nonchalance and strong-willed determination on and off court. While the youngster has taken her career very seriously, she did not shy away from supporting the LGBTQ+ cause in her hometown, Florida. With much to credit to her personality, Coco might be on the way to becoming an international idol like her role models- Serena and Venus Williams.
