Jimmie Johnson gets tangled in his driver’s intriguing social media activity again

Seeing NASCAR’s 7-time champion enmeshed in hushed conversations, that too, for the same things repeatedly, is not a great sight. A few months back, Johnson’s name grabbed major headlines owing to his former driver, Noah Gragson’s social media activity. The 25-year-old rookie stirred up a controversy after he liked an insensitive George Floyd meme, sparking a new row in NASCAR.

The LMC co-owner had his back against the wall for his driver’s wrongdoing, which eventually forced him to oust Gragson from the team. Fast forward to this week, following his stint at Charlotte Roval, Johnson is yet again in the headlines because of his other driver’s social media activity.

Coming to the talk of the town, LGM’s 20-year-old driver and Truck Series sensation, Carson Hocevar has drawn his boss into the picture with his intriguing status. Teasing his fans, the driver updated his “X” handle bio saying, “The wait is over tomorrow,” prompting fans to speculate and scrounge for updates.

The 48-year-old Hall of Famer needs no formal introduction to the racing community and every news on the legendary driver is certain to tickle the community’s curiosity. Considering his 2023 season as the boss of LGM, Johnson has had a rather tough time dealing with his driver’s actions. While Noah Gragson’s actions forced the veteran to take drastic measures, he found a worthy replacement in Josh Berry.

But as the tournament went into the playoff extravaganza post the regular season, #2 ranked Truck Series driver, Carson Hocevar was called to replace the 25-year-old in the #42 Chevy. In fact, Hocevar has far more success than Gragson. Compared to Gragson’s 2 top 20 finishes in 21 starts, the 20-year-old has 4 from just 5.

Hocevar has updated his twitter bio:

Carson to the 84 when Jimmie isn’t driving buying a charter from Kaulig,” commented one user.

While another fan predicted another big Spire Motorsports move, “It’s either going to be Spire or an out-of-the-left field team…Hocavar to the 10.”

Others chimed in with humor, “He is going to announce he saved 15% by switching to Gieco”

The youngster’s impressive performance has prompted LMC to retain the driver for the rest of the 2023 season. He will pilot the #42 Chevy for the rest of the post-regular season for 4 races before he probably goes full-time in the Cup Series later next year for Spire Motorsports.
