With the curtains falling on the Daytona 500, Brad Keselowski’s ambition to register a win at NASCAR’s crown jewel track in Daytona has gone amok. It was another year with another missed opportunity for the #6 driver who eyed his first-ever Daytona win but instead got into an ugly wreck that ended his day as fate had other plans for him at the 2.5-mile speedway, succumbing the driver into one of the worst winless streaks.

In fact, the 2012 Cup Series driver hasn’t won yet driving the car he owns. Brad Keselowski became a co-owner of RFK Racing in 2022, and his last Cup Series victory came in the spring of 2021.

Reflecting on the winless drought ahead of the second race of the season in Atlanta the driver was asked, “So you don’t get hungrier as the streak, as longer it goes?” To which he revealed his mindset, sharing his “honest” perspective on the 100-race winless streak.

Sunday’s race at Atlanta marks Brad Keselowski’s 100th start since his last Cup Series victory in 2021. However, one thing that no one can take away from the veteran is the consistency and pace the RFK Racing co-owner has put out. Even the numbers point towards the former champion’s stellar track record at the venue.

By the numbers, the #6 driver led last year’s spring race at Atlanta on the final lap but finished second to his former Team Penske teammate, Joey Logano. Unfortunately, it’s the numbers that also stack up against him. Ever since he has taken up the ownership responsibility at RFK, Keselowski hasn’t been able to win a race with his last victory coming in Team Penske at Talladega.

Poking on the painful winless streak, the 40-year-old was asked about it. Shrugging off the negative hype, he simply said, “I’m not paying any attention to it, to be honest, I would rather be fast every week and contending for wins and fall a** backward into a race win and say, ‘Oh, the streak is over.’ I want to be fast, I want to be contending and be in the hot.” 

He further added, “We did that last week and I’m proud of that. I think we got a good shot to do that this week. That’s what matters to me. I never was not hungry. So I guess that’s, I don’t know how to get any hungrier.”

Keselowski’s strong track record at the 1.5-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway positions him as a formidable competitor, highlighting the significance of his performance and aspirations for the upcoming race. The #6 Dark Horse Mustang’s pace also adds to the hype, but everything aside, Keselowski says he is not taking the two-faced track for granted.

While on paper, the veteran is a massive favorite, Keselowski is also aware of the technicalities of the one-and-a-half mile speedway which on cold tarmac behaves like a speedway and once it turns hot changes its character. According to RACER.com, the driver relayed his confidence, saying, “I like the track. I feel good here. I feel like we understand what we need out of our car and yeah, I feel like we can win come Sunday.” 

He later on added, “It’s a good track for us, but nothing is given to you — you have to go earn it. Just because you ran well last year, everybody is working on their stuff in order to get better, so I don’t take it for granted. I do feel like it’s a track that, even before it was reconfigured, suited me well and continues to do so.”

Taking on the grid, the #6 Ford will start from P24, eyeing a win, qualifying for the race with a time of 31.479s. But can he deliver the goods and break his winless streak?
