On Sunday, defending champion Joey Logano seized his first race win of the 2023 Cup Series season. This win is quite special because it is the first time that Logano ever won at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. It was also interesting to note that this was also the first time that Logano won for a sponsor other than Shell-Pennzoil. During the post-race interview, the #22 Team Penske driver opened up about that fact and that he was proud of it.

Joey Logano mentioned in the post-race press conference, “That’s true. Oh, yeah. I’ve been reminded. It means a lot. Autotrader has been a partner of Team Penske, I think, for eight years or so. They won here I believe with Brad in the past. I’ve been close a few times.

“I’ve wrecked this car plenty of times, so, it felt good to finally win with this thing.

“It feels kind of weird. AAA on the car as well. We’ve been close so many times for the last 10 years. Haven’t been able to win with that one yet, either. Yeah, finally won one without the Shell on the car. Definitely a little different, for sure. Nice to get them a victory, as well, here. We’ll try to click one off for AAA later this year, too”

Joey Logano will be keen to keep up the momentum

Of course, the #22 driver will be thrilled with his first win of the season. With this, he will be hoping that it sets a tone for the remainder of the campaign. At the Atlanta Motor Speedway, the Ford drivers ran riot and pretty much dominated the race. In fact, he and former teammate Brad Keselowski finished 1–2 ahead of Christopher Bell in the lead Toyota.

Now, the next race on the calendar is the Circuit of the Americas. Traditionally, this has been a track where the Chevrolets have done well, with wins for Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain. However, Logano will be eager to upset the apple cart and snatch a first win for Team Penske and Ford.
