After a brilliant 2020 season, Kevin Harvick further raised his billing in the NASCAR Cup Series. Despite not making it through to the ‘Championship 4’ race at Phoenix, Harvick had a highly successful year, winning nine races – more than anyone else on the grid.

Now, as he enters the 2021 season, the Stewart-Haas Racing star is close to achieving some more records and further extending them. Harvick is just 13 starts away from a staggering 1200 race starts in the NASCAR national series, which comprises of Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series.

At the same time, Harvick holds another highly impressive feat in the sport. Going into the 2021 season, he is also close to 700 consecutive starts in NASCAR. He has not missed a race since the 2002 spring race in Martinsville, making it 675 consecutive race appearances for the veteran.

Kevin Harvick close to achieving impressive records

Of his 1187 NASCAR starts, 718 are Cup Series races, 346 are in the Xfinity Series, while the remaining 123 are in the Truck Series. The 45-year-old is already a three-time champion in NASCAR, winning the 2014 Cup Series title and the Xfinity Series titles in 2001 and 2006.

Harvick started his Cup Series career in an unexpected manner, suddenly replacing Dale Earnhardt at Richard Childress Racing, following his tragic death in 2001. Soon, Harvick established himself as a leading name in the top division and now sits on 58 Cup Series wins.

If he continues his supreme form in 2021, Harvick is expected to reach the 60-win landmark very early in the season. He is in ninth place when it comes to most wins in NASCAR, and is 18 wins behind Earnhardt himself, who amassed 78 victories.

While he will be keen to further extend these records and achievements, Harvick must still be hurting from his elimination during the 2020 playoffs. He was a real favorite to win the title, given his superiority all year, but just could not find his feet in the Round of 8 in the playoffs.

Harvick is more than capable of finding his range right away and dominate the field again, but it will certainly be tougher next season. At the same time, time is running out for Harvick to claim a second Cup Series title as he is already 45 years old.
