It’s no secret that the NASCAR fandom loves to pick sides between supporting Hamlin’s shenanigans and quickly labeling him as the anti-hero after the 2023 season. The last season may have caused Denny Hamlin’s pocket a lot of damage after his run-in with Ross Chastain. But the same can’t be said for his life away from the oval with Jordan Fish, as the pair announced their engagement only a few weeks ago. Although Hamlin’s family life is slotting itself into higher gear, his decisions with a vital part of his appearance haven’t sat all too well with fans.

Hamlin took to Twitter to reveal a rather horrifying new look that immediately caught fans off guard. Dressed in the Mavis colors, Hamlin looked the camera straight in the eye with a new buzz-cut look. While the hairstyle is certainly in trend as of late, something just didn’t sit right. Hamlin simply captioned the photo, “The hair was an accident.“

The 23XI co-owner further added, “I’d have a picture up from today’s @NASCAR production shoot, but I told @jareddallen if he posted the same photos we’ve already seen on social media the last 2 days, he would be fired. Stay tuned.” And although many fans speculated Hamlin was just being laid back, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. hinted at a bigger revelation. He shared, “Or is it because of your haircut…” to which Hamlin agreed, “All was a factor.

The JGR driver’s hairstyles over the years have always been a fan favorite. But this time around, Hamlin may have missed the mark by a mile. While we’ve gotten to see drivers such as Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher in their new attire, Hamlin had a rather questionable excuse for not posting any of his.

For a driver that’s been the talk of the community for his funky hairstyles ever since his Cup Series career began, the new, rather simple, buzzcut was a change not many could fathom. After taking a look at the new Hamlin style, it’s easy to see why the JGR star waited a few extra hours to reveal it to the Twitter community.

Denny Hamlin’s haircut mishap sparks hilarious fan banter and creative roasts

Replying to Hamlin’s original tweet, a user quickly started the hysterical banter by sharing, “You’re gonna drink these Cokes while we rotate your tires and you’re going to like it.” While CocaCola’s official account joined in to cheekily comment, “We’re distracted by all that @CocaCola anyway 😉” But even America’s favorite soda wasn’t safe from the fan’s clutches after Denny Hamlin’s haircut mishap. A user promptly retorted, “Coke dealers looked way different in my day, good Lord.”

Denny Hamlin clearly got the brunt of the fans’ rage, with one commenting, “My guy looking like Eleven (from Stranger Things) while driving the 11 car, that is… commitment.” Other fans got creative with their roasts, one added a picture of Hamlin’s New Era Black Mavis Snapback Hat and shared, “Perfect time to get this order in. I know I will!
