The measure of someone’s success is often a tricky task. It’s both objective and subjective. But the measure of one’s impact isn’t that difficult a thing to be seen. It’s felt, it’s in front of you, and it’s evident, just like Ken Block’s impact on racing and tributes that poured in from NASCAR post his unfortunate passing recently.

Block wasn’t just a racecar driver, and he wasn’t just a Rally Car champion. He was an icon, and as all icons are, he was more than what we knew him for. Block was an action star, and an entrepreneur who co-founded DC Shoes and Hoonigan Industries, as well as one of the rare few who had their own segment on shows like Top Gear.

An icon.

He was 55, and they cited the official reason for his death as a snowboarding accident. “Mr. Block was riding with a group but was alone when the accident occurred,” the statement from sheriff’s office read as per TMZ.

“We are saddened to hear of the loss of Kenneth and our hearts are with his family and friends so deeply affected.”

During the Cincinnati Bengals vs Buffalo Bills game on Monday night, Damar Hamlin, the safety of the Bills, unexpectedly collapsed. His situation quickly worsened after he had to be given CPR and serious medical attention before being transferred to the University of Cincinnati hospital nearby.

As of now, his condition is critical.

This Hamlin incident led to a lot of NASCAR drivers praying for the footballer’s recovery. Denny Hamlin, Tyler Reddick, and Clint Bowyer posted tweets in reaction to the unfortunate incident during the game.

With Hamlin’s collapse and Block’s passing, the last few years have been pretty emotionally taxing for the sports community in the country.
