NASCAR fans are delighted with the return to the traditional concrete track at Bristol

The announcement marks a return to the traditional 533-mile concrete short track that has been a hallmark of Bristol’s legacy Racing fans can once again anticipate the heart-pounding action, the notorious “beating and banging,” that has defined races on this iconic track for generations.

This decision marks a departure from recent years when the spring races were contested on the challenging dirt surface. Notably, the dirt races saw Joey Logano and Kyle Busch claim victories in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Christopher Bell continued the trend earlier this season.

In a recent conversation with SiriusXM NASCAR RADIO, Jerry Caldwell, the President of Bristol Motor Speedway, expressed the venue’s excitement for this change.

. “Yeah, well, obviously the eyes of the motorsports world are upon Bristol Tennessee this weekend. And we wanna make sure we talk some about 2024. It’s gonna be here before we know it. And we are excited to announce that the Food City 500 in the spring of 2024 will be returning to concrete… Can’t talk about dates right now. NASCAR will be announcing that soon. But we do wanna make sure all the race fans know we’ll be returning to concrete for 2024.”

NASCAR driver and RFK Racing owner, Brad Keselowski, also chimed in with his approval, tweeting, “Sweet news!”
