Yet another feather in his racing cap! Tony Stewart has already amassed a huge number of achievements to prove his mettle as one of the finest drivers in the history of American motorsports. However, now, the 51-year-old driver has added a new win to his list. On Sunday, Stewart registered his first NHRA victory in Las Vegas. And obviously, this brought the widest smile to his face.

It’s safe to say that Stewart’s transition into a drag racer was not a piece of cake. However, despite the challenges, the Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner has always been vocal about the excitement and satisfaction drag racing has brought him. And now, people want to know if his friends, specifically Clint Bowyer, also share the same excitement about his new adventures.

In his recent appearance on FloRacing’s UNHINGED with CE podcast, Stewart discussed the concussions and other physical experiences that audiences miss out on while watching drag races on television. During the conversation, the show’s host Courtney Enders asked him, “You brought your buddy Clint Bowyer to Charlotte last year. Did he share the same sentiments that you did?”

While answering the host’s questions about his friend and colleague Clint Bowyer’s sentiments on drag racing, Stewart revealed that Bowyer found the motorsports genre to be pretty cool. However, he added that the former Richard Childress Racing driver was not exactly on board with Stewart participating in it. He said,

“He [Clint Bowyer] is crazy anyway. And he thinks I am crazy for what I’m doing now. But he thought it was pretty cool.”

Furthermore, Stewart said that Bowyer might not consider doing what he has done. Explaining how Clint Bowyer is happy being a NASCAR on Fox commentator, Stewart added,

“He has zero desire to get in one. I think he’s getting too comfortable with his suit-and-tie gig he’s got on the weekends.”

Earlier last month, in an interview with NBC Sports, Smoke said that he did not think he was ready to be in a drag racing car. He revealed,

“I’m not ready for it. I’ve driven a Top Fuel car 16 runs and every run I make in it, the more I realize that I am not ready to drive a Top Fuel dragster, and I don’t belong in one right now. It’s fine to test with it. But those cars are so fast that my brain is so far behind the car that if something happens, I don’t know that I could catch it or be ready for it.”

And now, during his conversation on UNHINGED with CE, Stewart pointed out that the intensity of the race can be clearly ascertained by his friend Clint Bowyer’s take on it. He said,

“Clint’s an awesome guy and he likes to do some pretty cool stuff but when you hear him go ‘Man! I don’t want anything to do with that.’ I mean that tells you how intense the sport is.”

Calling drag racing his “Fantasy Island,” Tony Stewart followed his heart and took up this new genre of motorsports as his next challenge. Explaining how all his previous endeavors like dirt-track racing, sports-car racing, IndyCar, and NASCAR Cup have been a part of the same bubble, Stewart felt that it is time to embrace a new road.
