NASCAR has always been open to its former drivers for opportunities. Be it as a part of the executive body in the authority itself or on a team or possibly as a part of an analyst entourage, there are opportunities for everyone. And this is not something that has remained an unexplored territory either.

Former drivers have usually returned as a part of NASCAR to stay close to the sport we all love. One of the people who has been consistently present as a pillar of strength for NASCAR is the 2012 Cup Series champion, Brad Keselowski.  As a team owner, entrepreneur, and driver, his contribution to the community has been nothing less than immense. Affirming his already evident qualities to be an essential member of the executive body, Kenny Wallace names him the new Jeff Burton on “The Kenny Conversation.”

Speaking to the RFK Racing co-owner on his popular talk show, “The Kenny Conversation,” Kenny took a moment to admire his guest for his soft skills. Keselowski is known for being vocal about what he represents and continuing a chain of ideas in the community. To Kenny, he seems like a great candidate for the job of bridging the gap between drivers and the authorities.

The duo discussed how NASCAR has been letting some intentional wrecks pass under the radar, which can motivate drivers to commit fouls and get away with it. Keselowski was very insightful in his approach and even mentioned that NASCAR sets the example for the other leagues to follow. Hence, they have to be that much more responsible on the issue. Applauding the #6 Mustang driver, Herman said, “Yeah, well pretty incredible, you know, uh, I like what you had to say because I feel like you’re the new … you know, Jeff Burton was always the Mayor and would talk like a politician, you know, with his thumbs up in there.”

Further showing his admiration for Keselowski’s way with words, Kenny then added, “But I really feel like you talk, you’re so well spoken. I know you never want to but I feel like you could lead NASCAR.”

In 2016, Keselowski openly admitted his wish to enter into the arena of politics and revealed that as a kid, he often wished to become the President of the United States. A truly ambitious confession, but if anything it underlines his eagerness to become someone that can bring a change.

Last year, Brad did find a way to channel his opinions and add some weight to it. He was named as a member of the Sprint Cup drivers council, which is mainly responsible for reducing any communication gaps between the drivers and NASCAR executive body. To add more context to it, Brad Keselowski was selected on the basis of driver votes. This only goes on to show the faith his colleagues have in him to make their problems known.

The council was created as a nine-member system. Launched in 2015, the highest-scoring drivers from each manufacturer sealed a spot on the council, while the rest of the vacant roles were decided on the basis of driver votes. The ideal combination of the elected members was past champions, new drivers, and consistent performers in the point standings. The council indeed has some very vocal and skilled drivers like Dale Earnhardt Jr, Kyle Busch, and Denny Hamlin.

All of these factors have contributed to Keselowski’s current stature in the community and his being the next “Mayor” could very well be a safe bet.
