Team USA have begun their campaign for yet another FIBA World Cup title. The most dominant team in the international basketball circuit is looking to hold up their reputation in the coveted tournament. However, in a team consisting of the NBA’s brightest young talent, a major name ended up missing out – the Atlanta Hawks point guard, Trae Young.

Young expressed his desire to represent the nation after not making the cut. However, he still remained snubbed from the national side. To add fuel to the fire, one of the point guard who had his breakout season in 2022-23 and made it to the roster was also hailed as a natural leader by Stephen Curry‘s coach. If this disrespect was not enough for the 2-time All-Star, he recently got snubbed once again by a veteran analyst.

Trae Young catches stray from veteran analyst

Playing the point guard position in basketball is truly an art. While several players can be terrific scorers or defenders, point guards have the responsibility to act as floor generals for their teams. Trae Young has proved time and again that he has every skill it takes to be considered a master of the art.

With a career average of 25.5 PPG in the NBA, the 24-year-old has emerged as an exceptional point guard in the league while also carrying the Hawks to some historic playoff runs.

Bontemps named some exceptional American point guards

Trae Young has emerged as one of the most talented point guards in the nation. His incredible handles, shot-making, and vision set him apart from the lot. His leadership skills also have played a huge role in his success in the NBA. However, the stars Bontemps named are no less.

Three of the 4 names that the veteran analyst named were selected for the All-Star game in the 2022-23 NBA season. Tyrese Haliburton, Jrue Holiday, and Stephen Curry are some of the most unique point guards in their own right.

Jalen Brunson too, had an incredible breakout season in 2022-23 to earn a spot in the Team USA roster. He also was hailed as a “natural leader” by Team USA and Golden State Warriors coach, Steve Kerr.

Given their incredible resumes, the players Bontemps named are no less than Young. However, Young too, has made a strong case for himself to be considered above these terrific talents. Although the Hawks star has not reached the legendary status of ‘The Baby-Faced Assassin’ yet, he has made left an indelible mark on the NBA already with his phenomenal talent.
