The trade deadline continues to uphold its reputation of being unpredictable. Once again, a move that has left fans’ aw dropped just went official. The Philadelphia 76ers, who are dealing with the conundrum of Joel Embiid potentially missing out the entire season decided to get their hands dirty. They did business with conference rivals – the Milwaukee Bucks and traded away a leader of the locker room – Patrick Beverley.

The veteran guard is no new to shifting destinations mid-season. He did so when the Los Angeles Lakers traded him to the Chicago Bulls last year. This is his fifth team in three seasons.

Beverley, who is known for being outspoken and confident, decided to announce the news himself.

Patrick Beverley is heading to Milwaukee to join Giannis Antetokounmpo

It wasn’t the tweet of Adrian Wojnarowski. Nor did Shams Charania get a chance to give out the all-important update revolving around Beverley. The former Clippers guard was the bearer of the news himself. Through his podcast’s X account, the defensive guard announced the latest news that has really shocked Philly fans.

BREAKING: @patbev21 to the Milwaukee Bucks,” he wrote.

The move has really astonished Sixers fans who are devastated to lose such a crucial figure in the locker room.

Only a month ago, Beverley jokingly spoke about a scenario where he would be traded away from Philly. During that episode, he sent a warning to the organization. Given he is adored by the fans and perfectly embodies the Philly grit, he predicted a wave of anger coming.

If Pat Bev gets traded, we’re flipping cars. They better grease the poles if you get traded because we’re burning down City Hall,” he said.

The move does leave a trail of surprise. Beverley had gotten through to the Sixers. His leadership and voice were profound. Additionally, because he doesn’t command the ball much, Beverley was a brilliant piece to have besides Embiid. Beverley could also have been a brilliant mentor for someone like Tyrese Maxey, who is ascending into stardom very quickly.

While it is surely sad, Pat Bev is heading to a team that probably has a better chance of winning. Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have had an atrocious start under Doc Rivers. The franchise is rocky, and someone like Beverley could be the perfect fit to stabilize things again.

Last year, Beverley’s flawless impression of the Greek Freak went viral. But in his mimicry, an important message was also revealed. According to him, Antetokounmpo said, “You want to win a championship, come Milwaukee Pat,”.

It’s funny how destiny has worked its magic once again. The details are still unknown. There is also no confirmation of Giannis Antetokounmpo having any influence in bringing Beverley to Milwaukee. However, it’s a move the Bucks will appreciate. After losing Jrue Holiday, Milwaukee has been in dire need of a defensive anchor. Pat Bev can play behind Damian Lillard as a tenacious defender and help improve the problems the Bucks are facing in the backcourt.

The 35-year-old can also stretch the floor, shooting 32% from three this season. Milwaukee wants to win, and Pat Bev is the hungriest he has ever been. If the mentalities match, he might become a significant addition for the Bucks.
