The Golden State Warriors, once the face of NBA supremacy, are now in a difficult situation in their quest for another title. The team’s 141-105 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday turned out to be a sharp reminder of its troubles this season. Curry openly addressed the team’s performance after the game, signaling a need for change. Even he admitted that continuing to do the same thing and expecting different outcomes is not a practical strategy.

And when the NBA Insider Shams Charania disclosed that the club is potentially making some big changes, it fueled a lot of speculation. With a 17-20 record and a 12th-place finish in the Western Conference, the Warriors’ front staff looks ready to examine all possibilities, with the exception of the essential Stephen Curry.

Shams Charania appeared on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back and said, “The mindset in Golden State is that everyone except Steph Curry is on the table. Realistically, Klay Thompson would they wanna keep him long-term? That’s been their hope but they have not been able to reach a contract extension with him.” He further spoke about how the front office is big fans of Jonathan Kuminga, Brandon Podziemski, and Trayce Jackson Davis. However, except for Curry, the Warriors roster has to be in play to blow out their losses. He said, “They haven’t been close in the games so they are going to be looking to make moves.”

According to Charania’s opinion, the Warriors may need to reevaluate their dependence on their core trio of Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, all of whom are currently in their mid-30s. The task for the Dubs is to find a way to win a championship without destroying the core that has delivered several championships for them.

Even General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr may be hesitant to part ways with the franchise veterans Green and Thompson as he knows and understands that they are important contributors essential to the team’s success. However, if he wants to see the team progress, he needs to make some harsh decisions.

So, with Shams Charania’s perspective, an intriguing element is added to the existing storyline of the Warriors’ difficult season. The possibility of significant changes in the Golden State, with the exception of Stephen Curry, suggests a franchise that is dealing with the tough dilemma of balancing between their veteran stars and their quest for future titles. So, as of now the Warriors’ future is unknown, but one thing is guaranteed, the next phase of the team’s illustrious history may be on the way.
