After holding a monopoly over the American beer market for over 22 years, Bud Light is no longer America’s favorite beer. In an epic fall that was due for a while, the beer that was held by millions of sports fans is slowly dwindling in popularity within the United States. Endorsed by the likes of Conor McGregor, Rhonda Rousey, NBA 2K and 27 out of the 32 NFL teams, Bud Light is officially dethroned from the top.
After a staggering $27 billion loss in a space of a week the beloved beer company has been usurped by a new king. Its drop in valuation was in part to the company pushing its product to people under the age of 21. A partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney spurred an outrage as many believed Bud Light was targeting minors. Its sudden plummet has sent ripples across various markets including the NBA.

Beer has always been a staple of celebration. While popping champagne is certainly a sign of victory, consuming beer is the best way to lay off. Bud Light has been the go-to drink for a long time now, but after its recent controversy that saw its sales drop by 24.4%, one could say otherwise. With its sales reaching an all-time low, there is a new king in town.
While Bud Light saw a huge loss in sales, Modelo Especial, a Mexican imported beer experienced a rapid rise in popularity. After a 12.2% rise in its sales Modelo has officially become America’s favorite beer with the NBA finals proving its credibility.

Bud Light didn’t have the wrong idea when first deciding to send beers to transgender star Dylan Mulvaney as she was celebrating “365 days of girlhood.” The boycott began once politicians and activists caught wind of this as many believed that the star had a huge minors audience causing severe backlash.
