Although Green might have a good relationship with the coach and the team, his future still remains in the air. Contract talks between the former DPOY and the team have stalled. Prior to the 2022-23 season, Green asserted that he doesn’t believe the Warriors are offering him an extension. However, amid uncertainties, Green revealed his honest thoughts on the role Steve Kerr played in their matchup against the Kings. According to the Dubs star, he played a game of chess along with Mike Brown and it was enjoyable to see as a basketball fan.

During the podcast, Green said, “You saw it in full force in the last series when it was the Kings and Mike Brown, who knows us very well. Him and Steve [Steve Kerr] playing chess. And as a basketball fan, absolutely fun to watch just like the chess pieces and the moves that were being made, I absolutely enjoyed it. The most important thing is, I learn, I learn from him. You watch these coaches do these, I learn from them.”

“I’ve been learning from Steve so much this year. It’s been a real pleasure playing for Steve and learning not only the X’s and O’s, but Steve has taught me more about winning. I think I’ve always been a winner my whole life, but Steve Kerr has won at a level that not many people in NBA history…”

Mike Brown worked under Kerr, who is a nine-time NBA champion, for several years. He worked as Kerr’s assistant from 2017 to 2022, when he joined the Kings. Brown worked wonders with the Kings this season and led them to their first playoffs in several years.
