After suffering a blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors in their last game, things might’ve taken a turn for the worse for the Minnesota Timberwolves. As the Wolves faced the Washington Wizards to avoid losing three games in a row, the team’s star Karl-Anthony Towns went down wobbling to the ground. It’s not a sight any NBA fan would want to see.

With five and a half minutes left in the third quarter, the Wolves were charging back on defense. All but their star center, Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns went down to the floor holding his right knee.

NBA fans react as Karl-Anthony Towns gets carried off the court

Though it was a non-contact injury, the way Towns was holding his leg did seem awfully scary. The Minnesota Timberwolves are in the bottom half of the Western Conference as well. And to lose their second-leading scorer is not something their fans wanted to see.

Here are some more reactions from Twitter.

Fans speculated as to what might the injury be that Towns suffered. But all hoped that it was not something major.

An injury update was given by Shams Charania saying, “Timberwolves say Karl-Anthony Towns has suffered a right calf strain.” Though that is good news for Minnesota fans, it does leave a looming question unanswered.

Didn’t Kevin Durant suffer a calf strain a few years ago as well? Hopefully, the 6’11 center did not suffer more and will be able to brush it off in a few days.

Another injury update was given by Adrian Wojnarowski after the game on what Karl-Anthony Towns had suffered.

Because if Towns misses out on a long period of time, that leaves the Timberwolves in an offensive deficit. After Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards, there isn’t any player on the roster who is averaging more than 15 points per game.

The only bright side to Towns missing out on games is that it would give Rudy Gobert a chance to be more active on offense rather than just defense. D’Angelo Russell is another player who can light up teams if given the opportunity.

Though an inconsistent scorer, when Russell gets going, he truly has ice in his veins then. But let’s hope Towns suffered nothing major. Prayers up for Karl-Anthony Towns.
