When creating a list that features the top shooters in the league today, Stephen Curry is likely to be high up on such a list, given how he seems to have a way with the ball. He translates his touch into a shooting spree and has surely become one of the best bankable shooters in the league. During his reign, he has helped his team, the Golden State Warriors in several high-pressure situations. Recently, when Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard was asked about his list, he had an interesting choice for who would come in second place, which left NBA fans with plenty to say.

Notably, Lillard put himself in second place after Stephen Curry. He acknowledged that Curry was the greatest ever, but admitted that he believes he should be spoken of in the same breath. “…but I think after him, I don’t see why I am not clear-cut in that discussion“, Dame said.

Here are some of the reactions from NBA Twitter:

While Dame has no championship rings to his name, he entered the game on Saturday against the Houston Rockets with 17,995 points. He was just 46 points behind Clyde Drexler for the most points scored in franchise history. This is another testament to his scoring abilities. Even he seemed bewildered that nobody was taking stock of his skills. “...not just by makes, but how I shoot it, how I make tough ones all the time, how easy I shoot the ball“, he added.

Trail Blazers head coach, Chauncey Billups, sang high praise of his star player. “He’s playing at an extremely high level“, he said.

On Saturday, Damian Lillard surpassed the 18,000-point milestone, becoming the 77th player in the league to do so. He thanked everyone who supported him in this feat. It has also been recorded that he has scored over 2,222 three-pointers in nearly half the games as the other players to have reached there.

The six-time All-Star concluded, “I think for how many threes I’ve made, for how consistent I make them, the level of difficulty that I shoot threes with over years and years and years, I just think it’s kind of crazy people don’t mention me in those discussions“. Furthermore, Lillard is now just 21 points away from overtaking Clyde Drexler as the Trail Blazer’s all-time leading scorer. The feat could be accomplished as soon as tomorrow, as the Trail Blazers take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
