Stephen Curry and LeBron James have given rise to one of the most compelling sports rivalries in recent years. While one has continued to enchant the world with his deadeye marksmanship, the other has perplexed NBA fans with his unrivaled longevity. On numerous occasions, the two superstars have spearheaded their respective franchises to the pinnacle of success.

The two have locked horns in the NBA Finals on a few occasions, which has served as a breeding ground for their rivalry. However, there is mutual respect as well between them, which stems from their fierce battles.

From 2015 through 2018, the two squared off in the NBA Finals each year, giving the globe arguably some of the finest NBA Finals series ever witnessed. Curry has won three of the four Finals in which the two greats have faced off, while James has won only one. However, the two are still neck and neck in the number of total championships won so far.

Curry and James are tied for the number of NBA championships won, having each won the coveted trophy four times. Now, this begs the question of who will eventually end up with more after everything is said and done. While both superstars would want to breach that deadlock, Stephen Curry has hinted that he intends to be the one to do it first.

The Golden State Warriors guard joined Sports Illustrated’s Ashley Nicole Moss for a game of ‘This or That’. He was presented with two situations from which he had to choose his preferred. And fair to say, he had to make some tough calls.

The first question asked was if he would rather miss the playoffs next year or watch his buddy LeBron James win his fifth ring.  When he heard the question, Curry burst into nervous laughter and exclaimed, “Oh, I love these!”

Curry then made it absolutely clear that his friend would have to go through him in order to claim his fifth ring. “No, I’m getting in the playoffs…you’re gonna have to beat us so I’m rocking with that,” said the four-time champion.

“If you can’t have five, he can’t have five, that’s how it works”, said the host to which Curry replied, “Absolutely”. 

Well, this makes it clear that after a remarkable season that saw Curry win his fourth NBA title, and his first Finals MVP, he’s eyeing a fifth already. He and the Warriors would want to do everything in their power to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy yet again.

However, LeBron James, at 37, is showing no signs of slowing down. He is still very well at the peak of his powers. After last season’s failures, he and the Los Angeles Lakers will undoubtedly be eager to rebound with a championship run.
