How many players in the history of the NBA can say that they got the best of Michael Jordan? Barely a few. However, there was one player that constantly defeated Jordan before he took over. And that is Detroit Pistons legend, Isiah Thomas. Jordan and Thomas had a career-long rivalry during their time in the NBA.

And recently, the feud has been reignited. Michael Jordan did not highlight Isaiah Thomas and the Detroit Pistons in the best of colors in the documentary, ‘The Last Dance.’ And it seems as if Thomas is still pissed about it, despite the documentary being out for over two years now.

Thomas said, “When I was watching The Last Dance, I’m sitting there and I’m watching it with my family and I’m thinking everything is good. And then this guy comes on television and he says that he hates me and then he calls me an a**h*le.”

And then I proceed to watch a whole documentary about him being an a**h*le. I’m like wait a minute, time out. Until I get a public apology, this beef is gonna go on for a long long time, ’cause I’m from the west side of Chicago,” he added.

Chris Broussard and Nick Wright discussed Isiah’s legacy on the show ‘First Things First.’ The two talked about how good Isiah Thomas actually was. And he might’ve been the only player who played in Jordan’s prime era and can say that he got the better of MJ.

That’s when Chris Broussard mentioned, “He’s beaten, he’s beaten Bird, Magic, and Michael.” Wright threw in a few more details saying, “11 series against those three guys, 7-4 record in the series, 35-26 overall against super teams. And he didn’t have one.”

Broussard continued with, “It’s kind of like Steph has it over LeBron. I mean three, four series they met in, three of them Steph won.” Out of the three playoff series, Jordan and Thomas went against each other and Thomas won two of them.

Eventually, Jordan got the last laugh as he swept the Pistons in their final playoff series. But the Detroit Pistons overtook the eastern conference by knocking down Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics from their pedestal. And the Pistons had already faced Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA finals before finally taking them down.

This was when Thomas had barely any help on the team. The next best offensive player was Joe Dumars, and both Thomas and Dumars were under 6’3. But that did not stop them from taking down some of the biggest names in NBA history.

He is the only player in NBA history to defeat Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan in their primes. Let us know what you think in the comments section down below about Isiah Thomas’ legacy in the NBA.
