Stephen Curry is currently the highest-paid NBA player in terms of players’ salaries, and there is much speculation that he may become the next billionaire athlete. However, the Portuguese soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest contract offers him in a single year what Curry is projected to earn in four years. Amidst all the buzz surrounding the FIFA World Cup, this piece of news has left fans in a state of utter disbelief.

Following his departure from Manchester United, Ronaldo has become a free agent. However, the former Real Madrid superstar is set to sign a 2.5-year contract with Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr. The deal entails the five-time Ballon d’Or winner receiving a staggering $200 million per season in salaries. The current net worth of CR7 is estimated to be around $490 million. This will make him the highest-paid soccer player in history.

The current contract Curry has signed with the Golden State Warriors offers him around $215,353,664 in four years. This makes the Dubs superstar’s yearly salary to be $53,838,416, which is almost one fourth of what Ronaldo will be making.

According to Forbes, Lionel Messi is the highest-paid athlete in the world earning $130 million a year. After Messi, LeBron James follows with his whopping $121.1 million per year income, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo, with $115 million. Stephen Curry, who earns $92.1 million per year, is ranked fifth on the chart. However, once Ronaldo signs the contract, the numbers will change drastically.

Just like LeBron James, Stephen Curry can also become the next billionaire athlete. Back in 2013, Curry had signed as the brand ambassador of the sports shoes and clothing brand ‘Under Armour.’ At that time, Curry got $4 million every year. Almost a decade after the iconic deal, he is currently earning $20 million every year from the brand. However, their current contract is set to expire in 2024.
