You don’t pick up a nickname like ‘the Dubs’ without winning a lot of games. And since Stephen Curry won his first MVP trophy in 2014-15, that’s exactly what the Warriors have done. The Warriors’ postseason hopes were cut short this year by LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Shortly thereafter, two-time Executive of the Year, Bob Myers stepped down as General Manager (GM) of the team. To add to the uncertainty, trade rumors have also been swirling around the team’s expensive core of players – namely, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.
The turmoil was furthered today as Golden State lost another keystone member of their staff. Former Warriors point guard and current director of players’ affairs and engagement, Shaun Livingston, announced that he is stepping away from his role to spend more time with his family.

Stephen Curry and the Warriors face uncharted waters
During an interview last year, Livingston described mentoring as “the most rewarding part of the job.” From coming off the bench for Steph to supporting Klay through his injury, Shaun Livingston wore many hats for the Warriors franchise. Picked 4th in the 2004 draft, Livingston was a master of the midrange, and his contributions as a rotation player and member of the front office have helped cement the Warriors’ legacy.
Now, with him departing, Golden State will certainly have big shoes to fill. With key members of the staff leaving and Steve Kerr entering the last year of his contract, new GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. has his work cut out for him.
