There has been a big contrast in the seasons for the Golden State Warriors and the Lakers. The Warriors have shown a lot of character all throughout the seasons. They have struggled with injuries to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Whereas Klay Thompson had a dip in form himself. LeBron James on the other hand was the only one in the Lakers who performed according to the expectations.

The Lakers as a team underperformed by a long mile. The whole season was below par. Despite some of the most experienced players, the thing the team lacked the most was probably character and mentality. With many players over 30, the veteran squad was at least expected to fight for the playoff spots.

However, they failed miserably as they did not even qualify for the play-in tournament resulting in one of the worst seasons of their history.

Golden State Warriors are looking like one of the favorites to win it all this season. While talking about the rosters, their owner, Joe Lacob didn’t hesitate and took shots at teams loading up their roster with older players.

Joe Lacob takes a dig at LeBron James’ Lakers and other aging teams

The Warriors owner, Joe Lacob currently has one of the most promising teams in the NBA. With the trio of Steph, Klay, and Poole playing at their full flow, there aren’t many teams in the league that can stop them. On the other hand, the Lakers fell out of their reputation drastically.

“There are a couple teams, I’m not going to say who, there’s some other teams that went all-in on older players,” Lacob said.

“And older players do get injured. That’s the thing you have to remember. Suppose we had made a trade, traded away all our youth, for I don’t know, you name the guy, and they’re injured, out for the year. Anytime you’re over 30, 32, 35, these people get injured. It’s data.”

LeBron James 37, Carmelo Anthony 37, Dwight Howard 36, Russell Westbrook 33. The Hall of Famers have aged and are mostly past their prime. Only LeBron showed the signs of his greatness by averaging 30.3 points with 8.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. But it is LeBron. All the others on that roster also have the quality of performing on a level at which people would go crazy for them but it did not happen this past season, and it never looked like happening either.

The Warriors also have three major players over the age of 32. But the thing is that they have not found the right balance. For the Lakers to achieve success next season they need to find the right balance between experience and youth.
